Buck wild family photos and service project

This is the first family photo session I had with a family I had never met before. I met the Buck family for the first time the day of the shoot. They are a fun and easy going family...nuff said...I mean just look at their pictures you will see it too! Oh... and my watermark was on the fritz...grrr...so I just typed it out.

Here is what Misty says about her project....

"Why did I choose the project I did...
I chose do do some type of paper crafting because that's what I know. I feel like I have a talent for it and I wanted to be able to share my joy of creating something with my hands with others. I wanted to work with the ladies at the beehive home so that  I could help them make something useful and pretty that they could then share with others-spreading the joy.
I feel that I was the one blessed by these wonderful women. They are so sweet. I couldn't help but smile and smile when I was teaching them...how could you not when you keep getting called "my love" by Lillian.
Doing this project with the ladies of the Beehive has made me want to craft with them even more. Their eyes light up. They share their day with you. I feel so blessed.
Honestly, I think that my personality usually leads me to service but this did take me out of my comfort zone a bit. This wasn't my typical class and I had to think more about the ladies abilities and what they would actually be able to do on their own and prepare ahead of time. I didn't want to make the cards FOR them wanted them to feel a sense of accomplishment from making something with their own hands and it required a lot of thought and preparation for each project. (My cards can tend to be very detailed :))
I will definitely be going back to the Beehive home to make cards with my girls. I am also making more of an effort to make cards for other worthy causes.
I'm so happy I participated in this project. I got to meet and get to know women I otherwise would never had crossed paths with. They have enriched my life and made me a better person. That includes you DeAnn.
After doing this project I feel more at ease with getting ideas together and offering my "services" to others that I may not be familiar with. I learned how easy it is to bring happiness to another individual by a simple act. I'm glad that I was able to use my surplus of paper and stamps goodies to help brighten another's day. I saw a quote today that said "Earth without Art is just Eh". How true that rings for me. I love to surround myself with things that my mom, my friends, my husband and children have made for me. It makes the world a better place for me. I feel like having something handmade by someone else is like having a little bit of that person with you. In that way this type of service has come easily for me. Which in turn makes me think that I should look for other ways to serve that will help me grow and that I may not see as so "easy".  Thank you for this wonderful opportunity with the S.I.P. Project. I am now more aware of the "little things" I can do for others."

I just want to give a shout out to my sis-in-law Keri for being my assistant she was a HUGE help!

I put this gem on my Facebook page and asked what YOU think their little thought bubbles should say...so if you haven't "liked" my Facebook page, you SHOULD or you might miss out on other fun stuff!!!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to take a second and leave some comment love :) Cause I love you and I love to hear from you :)

What it's all about...service, friendship, and bright happy people.

Some of you may know miss Aubrey from All Things Bright and Beautiful if you want to see some of my fave pictures from her photo shoot follow the link to her blog. Aubrey came into town and I didn't' know she was coming until I got a text from her that she was already in town, an awesome surprise. We have been wanting to get together to get some photos of her for a while and so the next day we headed down town...wind aside it was a blast, no pun intended ;) Don't you just love her bright and cheery outfit?! It matches her bright and happy personality. I love her big and fun personality...did I already say that?!

And I have known Aubrey and Josh about 8 years now I can gush about them a bit :) Plus it gives me a chance to thank them again. When friends or anyone are there for you in your time of need, you don't soon forget it. I haven't! My daughter is 5 now but her coming into this world was a bit traumatic...haha.

I was 32 weeks pregnant with her and everything seemed fine except that I was REALLY swollen but just thought eh...that's pregnancy for ya?! Went in for a visit and was sent to the hospital immediately. I had pre-eclampsia. I was there 2 days when they decided she needed to be delivered. I was there 3 days after she was born before I could go home, she stayed a month in the NICU.

On to my point...Josh and Aubrey were AWESOME!!! They came every day I was in the hospital, with movies, flowers, food and to hang out and visit with us etc. It meant the world to me that they cared. I felt very scared and alone and a lot of friends didn't' call or come by and it made me sad. Others may feel differently but in my experience I  truly appreciated a visit or any show of support. So I am here to tell you today that if your friend is going through something like this or is just in the hospital DO SOMETHING!!! A phone call, a note, send flowers, visit, ANYTHING!!! It can be a very lonely time and what Josh and Aubrey did I feel forever grateful for. I tried to thank them after we were out of the hospital but they just shrugged it off, so now I have another excuse to say thank you Josh and Aubrey. Your friendship means the world to me and Jake!

Also I can't write this without thanking my sister in law Keri either she brought dinner a few times and even left her kiddos with a sitter once so she could come hang out for a bit with me in the hospital, left a cute little preemie outfit hanging on the wall for me to see. I will also always be grateful to her for that. Family was there like my Mom :) but I was just sad that more of our "friends" weren't there in any way. I'm not being whiny, I am just saying this experience taught me a lot and made me want to be there for others when they are going through something traumatic. I can't say it enough I still feel deep gratitude for them to this day.

I am so happy I got to take Aubrey's pictures! She choose not to be exempted from doing a service project for her pictures, another testament to her fine character :) That will be on the blog soon :)

Has anyone had a similar experience???

Have a good day friends :)

No small acts of kindness

I read this quote on Pinterest and it got me thinking about how my family was the recipient of two acts of kindness this past week. We have been sick here for like two weeks...it's ridiculous...pink eye, croup, stomach flu...I am done for the year...DONE. So a friend called one night and asked if I had started dinner yet and I hadn't so she said I am bringing dinner over. Yeah, totally made my week :) Was this a small thing? No it was huge, and I can't put into words how grateful I am for her thoughtfulness. The second was that me and my family had signed up months ago to help clean the church last Saturday with another family. Well I and my husband were still not feeling tip top and wouldn't be able to make it to the church to clean until 1pm. The other family did it all, when I asked why they didn't leave some for us to do she said she knew I was getting over being sick. Another small thing?!...NO, not to me. It may seem like a small thing to the person giving the service but not to the person receiving it!

The quote I saw on Pinterest. (Crappy link but you can follow if you want)

I have to admit that when I first started using Pinterest I was annoyed by all the quotes (now I am contributing to quotes being pinned...right?!). I felt like I don't want to see this...give me the good stuff, partly because when I see signs or pinned quotes I HAVE to read them...I'm compulsive like that. Now I rather enjoy reading 90% of them. There are the few that REALLY hit me and those I really appreciate. The ones that make me think well after I am off Pinterest while I am doing the dishes or driving somewhere they pop in my head and give me something good to chew on for a bit and I appreciate that.

I know what kinds of quotes touch my heart and get me thinking but I want to know what lights the fires of your heart. How would you feel about sending me a link to a quote that gave you pause to think...or laugh. Send me a link and a few lines of your own thoughts about the quote your sending me and I will do a post about it in 2 weeks. I will take 5 peoples quotes and thoughts to make one post. If there is more interest in doing these kinds of posts I will continue them. Don't leave me hanging...please :) I really do want this to be a place where you hopefully feel inspired and feel comfortable leaving your thoughts. I WANT TO HEAR THEM :) ANYONE???  (you can always be anonymous too) Send them to paynelessphoto@gmail.com

I could go on and on I am good at that but I will leave it at this... I appreciate the feelings that came over me as me and my family were given service I felt uplifted, I felt that people cared about me and my family. I want to make others feel that way too. If you need some ideas on how you can make others feel loved through service check out this post I did during the Christmas season it applies all year long. It has some great service ideas.

Much love!

Get your wheels turning!

So I don't know about everybody else but I think the biggest obstacle to getting involved and serving in the community is not the desire to act but knowing how to get involved. We know there are terrible things happening to good people all around us. There is no shortage of diverse hardships they we face who are in need in this world. Yet somehow it can be hard to figure out how to jump in and help. Or is it just me? We have our little world with it's comfort zones and it can be really hard to step out of it. While this is a big obstacle another one is TIME, there is a serious shortage of it. There are SO MANY things vying for our time, it can be hard to prioritize, I know I am not telling you anything new her ;). There is always room though for little acts of kindness, We just have to start thinking that way and it will become a part of who we are....now stepping down from my soap box ;)

I know I think BIG which is great but I can also loose focus on the small things sometimes. What I am trying to say is; if you aren't solving world hunger don't be discouraged and think your not helping. Good deeds have a chain reaction. I know this a commercial but it illustrates the point I am trying to make.

Truthfully I think that if everyone or nearly everyone was focused on helping others World hunger would solve itself.

Today  I want to share some inspiration from two websites I found, one is an organization and the other a blog posting.

Do something.org is focused on teens and while I don't agree with everything on the site it is a good resource for ideas.

This picture is from a post about how on her birthday she did 26 nice things for others. Some really great ideas here! For example she took soda, chips & salsa and gum etc to a local fire fighters station...how easy is that? Such a great idea!!! (they ended up giving her a tour, she was just planning on dropping it off) She also... "purchased a book of stamps while at the post office and asked the clerk to give them to a random customer with a card full of my best wishes." How nice to be the person who got that book of stamps and nice card, that would totally brighten my day! To see what else she did check out the full post.

Okay so here's the deal I am going to stop here BECAUSE I want you to take some time and check out these links. I want to hear your thoughts after you have looked at them...deal?
